AMF previously supported the Guiding Lights Project to create a picture book helping households use and care for solar lighting systems.

This project aims to adjust the book to provide instruction for a similar solar lighting system being supplied by PAYGO across Timor-Leste.

PAYGO is a form of microcredit where a solar lighting system is provided to households on credit and  is paid back over 18-24 months with the repayment amount set at less than current expenditure by households on kerosene for lighting and batteries for phone charging.  The model has the ability to recycle funding from one village to then light up the next village: it becomes self-replicating.
